WHY YOUR COUNTRY IS AT WAR AND WHAT HAPPENS TO YOU AFTER THE WAR and Related Subjects

A scathing diatribe against (among other things) the monied interests held to be responsible for America's entry into the Great War. The author is Charles A. Lindbergh, Sr., a Minnesota Congressman and, of course, father of the famous aviator.

This privately-published volume so incensed Woodrow Wilson that he (very unconstitutionally) ordered the printing plates melted and all unsold copies confiscated. Few original copies survive.

This copy remains in quite good shape. The covers show some soiling as seen in the photos; the binding is firm; the text is somewhat toned with age but otherwise in fine condition. There is an inverted gift inscription inside the front cover; evidently the gifter held the book upside down when writing.

Like most copies of this book three leaves, containing pages 173-178, have been torn out (it is unclear by whom); this portion of the text contained sharp criticism of the Catholic Church.

Certainly a presentable copy of this rare collector's item which elsewhere lists for twice this price and more.

Hardcover, issued without a jacket, 4.5" X 6.25", 220 pages. There are also two photos, of Lindbergh and his son, and of his (deceased) daughter with her child. Lillian Lindbergh Roberts' brief essay in support of women's suffrage is included in the book.
