This is absolutely heavenly and such a rare find - An early to mid 19th century Napoleon III French drawer box. We are totally in love with this item 🌹

Circa 1840-50's and although the ebony treatment and floral painting is typical of that period - it does have a suggestion of a refined folk art style decoration.

The wooden box is ebonised and waxed -the upper and lower edges are rounded & extend over the edge of the sides. It is hand painted with rose bouquets in many colours on all four sides and the top of the box- it also has hand applied gilding decoration. The decoration is of an exceptionally fine quality - it has a small bronze pull at the front of the drawer to facilitate opening.

Inside is one large drawer the size of the box - we were told when purchasing , it had been used to store flatware- but it would make a fine addition to a desk or to dressing table/chest of drawers- not only looking beautiful but also serving a very practical purpose of hidden storage;

Condition - The box is in excellent condition for the age of the piece- there are areas of rub & wear- to the ebonised finish. The Flower painting overall is in superb condition- there is a little area on the front next to the bronze pull, where the paint has worn (this is visible in the photos)
Please see and enlarge the photos they clearly show the condition and are a vital part of the item description.
