This seldom seen vintage early 1970's Aureole day-date diver is an example of a watch that in my humble opinion presents markedly better in person.  It has a satin blue "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that has aged naturally and uniquely over time.  Any other imperfections seen are on the crystal, not the dial.  The original lume, which emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue that couldn't be more pleasing.  The gray and blue acrylic bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, complements the dial nicely.  The heavy duty, beautifully cut all stainless steel case shows honest wear with no visibly noticeable signs of oxidation.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "SWISS MADE   WATERRESISTANT   20 ATU   STAINLESS STEEL" with the numbers "660 45 20" stamped in the center.  The crystal shows gouging/scratching.

The 25 jewels Swiss AS 1906 automatic movement with quickset date function is clean, keeps accurate time and both the day and red date wheels roll over as they should at 12 am.  Please note that the day wheel is in Spanish only.  The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then repeatedly moving the hands between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached.  After recently winding the screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a solid 43 hour power reserve period.  The crown, which unscrews and screws back down without issue, winds smoothly.  Given that the movement shows no clear signs of ever having been serviced (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is recommended to keep it running strong.

This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 43 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 13 mm.  This watch comes on a period correct, unbranded "100% STAINLESS STEEL" stamped bracelet that shows minor stretch.  It will likely accommodate up to an approximate 6.75 inch wrist.

Given that this watch is approximately 50 years old and considering that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is recommended.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old, and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
