This seldom seen complete set vintage 1976 Waltham day-date diver came from the estate of its original owner.  It has a textured black "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in lovely but not perfect condition as it shows some difficult to see spotting.  The original tritium on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue.  The black bezel, which shows wear and rotates smoothly bidirectionally, presents nicely.  The all stainless steel case shows moderate wear with no visible signs of oxidation.  The outside of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL CASE   SWISS MADE   INCABLOC   ANTIMAGNETIC   WALTHAM   AUTOMATIC."  The crystal needs be replaced as it shows gouging and scratching.

While I normally shows pictures of the movements of watches that I put up for sale the case back on this one is torqued too tight for me to remove.  The automatic movement with quickset day and date functions runs strong and keeps accurate time.  Both the day and date wheels roll over at 12 am.  The quickset day function works flawlessly by pulling out the non-screwdown crown to the second and final position and then turning it counterclockwise until the desired date has been reached.  By doing this the date wheel will also roll over, in tandem.  However if the goal is to keep the current day unchanged and only advance the date this can be done in precisely the same manner as the quickset day function with the exception of turning the crown clockwise.  Please note that when turning the crown clockwise the date moves backwards.  After winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement had a solid power reserve period of approximately 38 hours.  Given that this watch is more than 45 years old and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended.

This watch measures approximately 36 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38.5 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 9 mm.  Including the crystal case thickness measures approximately 11 mm.  This watch comes on what I believe to be its original Tropic 'style' band which is in pliable condition without any rips or tears.  The original receipt, long expired warranty/guarantee booklet, price tag and inner/outer boxes show wear.

Given the vintage nature of this watch and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.
