***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - Although the date and time can be set and the crown winds smoothly the movement does not run.  Given this and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********

This seldom seen vintage 1970's Tidemaster has a pristine matte black dial and lume, which shows cracking and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, that has aged to a golden buttermilk hue.  Any imperfections seen are on the crystal, not the dial.  The black/gray bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally with an appropriate amount of tension, presents nicely.  The chrome-plated case shows moderate wear and minor brassing.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "WATER RESISTANT TO 3 ATMOSPHERES   SHOCKRESIST" with "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped in the center.  The crystal needs to be replaced as it shows scratching, cracking and significant dust/debris on its underbelly.

The 7 jewels unadjusted Japan "HAMAZAWA, Ltd." and "5005C" stamped automatic movement with quickset date function is clean and the date and time can be set but it does not run.  The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached.  The crown winds smoothly.  Given that the movement does not run and considering its unknown service history (there are no visible watchmaker service markings on the inside of the case back or on the movement) a complete overhaul is required.

This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 37 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10.5 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm.

Given that the movement does not run a complete overhaul is required.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  For this watch that time is now.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.

Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 12 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.

Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.  Thanks for looking!
