***********FOR PARTS/REPAIR - The automatic movement immediately fires up after giving the watch some gentle shakes. The more it's shaken/worn the longer the movement will run. Although it keeps accurate time and the day wheel rolls over without issue the date wheel does not nor does the quickset date function (top right pusher) work (although it presses in and depresses perfectly as it should with no signs of gumminess). Given that the date wheel does not roll over and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********

This vintage 1970's first generation Wittnauer "2000," which came from the estate of its original owner, has a pristine bluish purple "JAPAN Y6404-013" stamped dial and the lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a perfectly matching golden buttermilk hue.  The all stainless steel case case shows honest wear, dirt residue and signs of oxidation.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "STAINLESS STEEL   PATENT PENDING" with "W" followed by "WITTNAUER" and "2000" stamped in the center.  The crystal needs to be replaced.

While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back is torqued too tight for me to remove.  The automatic movement immediately fires up after giving the watch some gentle shakes.  The more it's shaken/worn the longer the movement will run.  Although it keeps accurate time and the day wheel rolls over without issue the date wheel does not nor does the quickset date function (top right pusher) work (although it presses in and depresses perfectly as it should with no signs of gumminess).  The bottom crown controls the "perpetual calendar" although this calendar is technically not perpetual as it only goes to the year 2015.  The non-screwdown top crown is not intended to be wound as the movement is self-winding.  Given that the date wheel does not roll over and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.

This watch measures approximately 42 mm excluding the crown, approximately 45 mm including the crown and approximately 18.75 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 8 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm.  This watch comes on a Speidel U.S.A. stretch bracelet.  The original inner and outer boxes and papers show considerable wear.

Given that the date wheel does not roll over and considering the movement's unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  For this watch that time is now.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.

Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.

Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.  Thanks for looking!
