***********Although the Venus 188 manual wind movement keeps accurate time with all chronograph functions working perfectly as they should given that it has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********

This seldom seen 1960's Continental, perhaps best known for their stamped movements and case backs found in/on various vintage Le Jour branded references, has a pristine off-white "FRANCE" signed dial.  All wear seen is on the crystal, not the dial.  The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a faint, short-lived glow on only the hands after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully.  The all stainless steel case shows honest wear.  The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL   ANTIMAGNETIC   WATERPROTECTED" with "CONTINENTAL TIME CO" followed by "FRANCE" stamped on the inside of the case back.  The crystal should be replaced.

The 17 jewels unadjusted France "CONTINENTAL TIME CO" stamped Venus 188 manual wind movement keeps accurate time with all chronograph functions working perfectly as they should.  The top pusher starts and stops the sweep seconds hand with the bottom pusher resetting both the sweep seconds hand and minute register (right subdial) back to precisely zero.  Both pushers have a pleasant catch and release feel with no signs of gumminess.  After recently winding the non-screwdown crown 38 full revolutions the movement had an approximate 42 hour power reserve period.  The crown winds with an appropriate amount of tension.  Given that the movement has likely never been serviced a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.

This watch measures approximately 37 mm excluding the crown, approximately 40 mm including the crown and approximately 18 mm between the lugs.  Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the fixed bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm.  Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm.

A complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.  As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch.  Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.  Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility.

Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given.  And please study the 24 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch.
