As a leading man for all but the first three years of his cinematic career. Out of more than 100 film appearances, over 60 of them were Westerns. In the annual Motion Picture Herald Top Ten Polls, his name appeared on the list for four consecutive years, from 1950 to 1953.
In 1975 Scott was inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. For his contribution to the motion picture industry, Scott has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
