Photograph Notes: The Explorer Map shows this feature as a motte. Believed to be medieval, the site is an earthwork on a natural mound above the edge of the post-glacial raised beach. The 15 metre circular summit is slightly sunken, surrounded by an earth and stone wall. An outer ditch can be seen around all sides except the west, where the steep slope provides a natural defence.
