Logitech Squeezebox SB+ for sale - a highly modified audiophile version  of the Slimdevices / Logitech Squeezebox Classic (SB3) by @Tunes (Patrick Dixon).

The SB+ is a highly modified Squeezebox Classic (aka SB3). The PSU has been repaced with one that follows the Naim ethos… including great chunky toreoidal transformer and simple well-designed and over-specced components. The design of the audio section particularly has been completely upgraded. The Slimdevices/Logitech ecosystem is run by the free Logitech Media Server (LMS), still the best audio streaming software there is in my opinion (https://lms-community.github.io/lms-server-repository/). Via freely available plugins that can be downloaded via LMS the device supports Spotify, Tidal, Pandora, BBC Sounds, Deezer, YouTube and thousands of radio stations. See https://forums.slimdevices for more info.

The sound is vastly improved ove the SB3. This is the best sounding native Squeezebox device you can run on LMS. It looks cool too and comes with real wood ends, smoked glass front and top quality black metal casing.

Handles formats:
MP3 (CBR and VBR), FLAC, WAV, AIFF, WMA (CBR and VBR), OGG, AAC (.M4A), Apple Lossless, WMA Lossless, APE, MPC, WavPack

From the designer, Patrick Dixon of @Tunes:

"we completely disconnect the clock, DAC, digital and analogue output circuitry of the base SqueezeBox, and fit our own designed circuit boards, together with state-of-the-art multi-stage voltage regulation. To complete the transformation, we add our own linear PSU with a multi-core interconnect to power the Player.

In addition to the improvements we've made to the clocks, power supplies and analogue outputs, we've also carefully re-designed the S/PDIF digital output driver, using a transformer-coupled balanced output circuit."

I bought this @Tunes SB+ and a SlimDevices Transporter at the same time. The thin, analytical sound of the Transporter did not suit me but i found the SB+ sound warmer, more immediately attractive and frankly, more analogue sounding.

After two years of running it alongside a Naim NDX streamer (LMS vioa UPnP) I've finally decided to replace it with a Naim NDX. Not because I can tell any difference in the sound (I can't tell them apart) but because the NDX has more facilities.

I’ve not used the SB+ screen (I use a smart phone to control it and leave the screen off) so it is still as new, very bright and flicker free. I also had *all* the capacitors changed just over two years ago (see receipt from Hear Audio in listing). It is in pretty much perfect condition all round (despite how it looks in the photos). It comes with original box, leads and remote (the remote never even left the box).

Note: If you don't know what this is you're not likely to want it. It depends upon Logitech's wonderful free streaming software Logitech Media Server (LMS)... still pretty much the best streaming platform there is in my humble opinion.
