For your consideration is a fine original c.1607 Saxton / Hole Map of Oxford, Oxfordshire: (Oxoniensis Comitatus, vulgo Oxfordshyre). An antique county map of Oxfordshire published in the 1637 English edition of William Camden’s 'Britannia.' Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins beautiful early coloring.
