For your consideration is an exceedingly rare and historically important original antique c.1898 royal presentation original photograph postcard of Bulgarian Princesses Eudoxia and Princess Nadezhda, hand-signed by Eudoxia and Nadezhda, 1989/1899 respectively. The dates represent their birth years, not the date of the autographs. Royal presentation photograph measures approximately 3.25" x 5.5". Princess Eudoxia of Bulgaria (Bulgarian: Княгиня Евдокия; 5 January 1898 – 4 October 1985) was the eldest daughter and third child of King Ferdinand I of Bulgaria and his first wife, Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma. She was a devoted sister and confidante to King Boris III.


Born on 5 January 1898 in Sofia, Princess Eudoxia was the third child and first daughter of Ferdinand I, Prince of Bulgaria (later King of Bulgaria), and his first wife, Princess Marie Louise of Bourbon-Parma. She had two older brothers and one younger sister. Eudoxia was exactly one year old when mother, Marie, died in childbirth while giving birth to Eudoxia's younger sister Nadejda.


From an early age, Eudoxia was interested in the fine arts. Princess Eudoxia never married; although, there were persistent rumors that she wished to marry a man of Bulgarian descent, which was dynastically unacceptable at that time.[citation needed] She devoted her life to Bulgaria and acted as First Lady of the Land until King Boris III married Princess Giovanna of Savoy.


In 1922, Eudoxia and her sister Princess Nadejda became the confidants of King Boris III of Bulgaria. She became First Lady of the Land until King Boris married.


After 9 September 1944, Princess Eudoxia was arrested and tortured by the Communists. She was released and allowed to flee the country with the rest of the royal family. She later settled in Germany, where she lived close to her sister Princess Nadezhda. She died on 4 October 1985, at the age of 87.


Princess Nadezhda of Bulgaria (Bulgarian: Княгиня Надежда; born Nadezhda Klementine Maria Pia Majella (Надежда Клементина Мария Пия Мажелла)); German: Prinzessin Nadeschda von Bulgarien; 30 January 1899 – 15 February 1958) was a member of the Bulgarian royal family.


She was born in Sofia as the youngest daughter of Ferdinand I of Bulgaria and his first wife Princess Marie Louise of Parma who died giving birth to her. Along with her sister Princess Eudoxia she was educated under the direction of their step mother, Princess Eleonore Reuss of Köstritz.


Princess Nadezhda was married on 24 January 1924 at Bad Mergentheim, Germany, to Duke Albrecht Eugen of Württemberg (8 January 1895 Stuttgart – 24 June 1954 Schwäbisch Gmünd) the second son of Albrecht, Duke of Württemberg. They had five children.

Duchess Margareta Luise (25 November 1928 – 10 June 2017) married François Luce-Bailly, Viscount of Chevigny (15 June 1923 – 6 March 2022) on August 8, 1970. They have one son.

Duke Eugen Eberhard (2 November 1930 – 26 July 2022) married in 1962 (div 1972).


Archduchess Alexandra of Austria (b. 21 May 1935), daughter of Princess Ileana of Romania and had no issue.

Duchess Sophie (b. 16 February 1937) married in 1969 (div 1974) Antonio Manuel Rôxo de Ramos-Bandeira (2 August 1937 – 23 February 1987).


Princess Nadezhda died aged 59 in Stuttgart, Germany.
