This scarce antique first edition is over 138 years old!
Volume 3. 1st Edition. A rare volume to find in any condition!
In good condition overall! Contemporary leather binding shows some wear as pictured, including wear to the joints, rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and some rubbing, soiling and staining to the page edges. The leather has become a bit brittle from age, but it does not leave extensive residue when handled. Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume! The gilt title lettering displays nicely from the shelf!
Internally, this volume is in good shape overall. Both boards and all page groupings remain attached to the binding. Bookseller notes written in pencil on the front free endpaper. Otherwise clean with no bookplates, signatures, inscriptions or library markings to note.
The text block of this volume is clean throughout. There is typical age-related toning to the pages, light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, some staining in the upper margin throughout, as well as some general light edge wear, but otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings. Perfectly readable throughout!
