ITEM DESCRIPTION

Today we are pleased to offer this nicely preserved volume on Charles Dickens by Frederic G. Kitton!

A great find from a local New England estate!

This scarce antique first edition is over 127 years old!

Undated; published in 1897.  1st US Edition.  Ex-library.

In good condition overall!  Original publisher cloth binding shows some wear, including a library sticker pasted to the front board, a library catalog sticker pasted to the spine, rubbing and soiling to the boards and spine, general wear around the extremities including bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and light soiling to the page edges.  Otherwise this is an attractive, well-preserved antique volume!  Sturdy and square!  Gilt title lettering to the spine displays nicely from the shelf.

Internally, this volume is in good shape as well.  There is a bit of cracking to both the front and rear hinges, however both boards and all page groupings remain attached to the binding.  This is an ex-library volume with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the title page and copyright page.  Otherwise this volume is clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.

The text block of this volume is very clean throughout.  There is typical age-related toning to the pages, as well as some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and light general edge wear.  Otherwise this volume is clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings.  Perfectly readable throughout!

Illustrated with a frontispiece portrait.  Make sure to see the photos above for complete details.

245 pages.

Measures approximately 7 inches tall by 4 3/4 inches wide by 1 1/4 inches thick.

A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
