This is a very rare science book, the original 1882 edition just isn't often available.

Johann Reinhold Forster created a list of the animals of North America as he understood them to be in 1771.  That original list, being quite scarce, was reprinted here in 1882 by the Willughby Society.   Originally bound in red, I believe that this black and white binding with its typed spine was added later, probably in the 1930's.

Great example of an antique natural history book.    Forster was part of Captain Cook's second expedition and was a noted minister and naturalist

Some minor spotting on endpapers and the red dye has run slightly onto inside covers--but this rare little book is in great shape.  43 pages + added information re: Willughby Society

Note: I try to identify any flaws in books as much as possible. Sometimes a photo will catch something that I hadn't noticed when making the listing--so it's good practice to look at the photographs as well as to read the listing. I want buyers to be pleased with what they buy!

Thanks for looking
