I am very pleased to offer a large collection of paintings and drawings by listed British artist ARCA (1920-2010). Many depict West Country landscapes and architecture, Cornwall, Devon and Dorset are all well represented.  Some are unsigned but where that is the case I will provide a certificate of authenticity.

Here is a Impressionist watercolour sketch depicting a jockey on horseback. He is raised from the saddle, the reins low on the horse's neck suggesting they're moving at speed.

Not signed or dated but estimated to date to the 1980s.

As unsigned I will provide a COA.

Painted on coloured watercolour paper.  In excellent original condition and very well presented with a pale grey card mount within a painted wood frame. Both mount and frame are in excellent condition, the only point to note a tiny mark on the lower edge of the mount.

Glazed and ready to hang.

Measures 35 x 29.5cm including the frame, the visible painting only is 21 x 16.5cm.

Postage £7 in mainland UK, £24 to mainland Europe and £46 to the USA or Canada.  For other destinations please contact me for a postage quote.

Michael Cadman was a painter and art teacher born in Epsom, Surrey.  He studied at Wimbledon School of Art and then at the Royal College of Art (1941-4).  Between 1947 and 1968 he taught at Epsom School of Art.   Cadman was a member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours and of the St Ives Society of Artists. He exhibited at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters, the Royal Society of British Artists, the Royal Watercolour Society, the Royal Academy and had many solo exhibitions with prestigious galleries including The Canaletto Gallery and the Whitehall Galleries.  His paintings were also reproduced on cards and calendars.  Cadman said that design, colour and atmosphere were most important in his work which often featured architectural and hedgerow themes, water reflections and coastal scenes.  There are many auction records for his watercolours, with prices up to £800 and many in the £200-300 range.
