Artists and Engravers: This plate engraved by Nicolo / Nicolaus Cavalli (1730-1822) after Teniers. David Teniers the Younger (1610-1690) was a Flemish artist born in Antwerp, the son of David Teniers the Elder.

Subject: Plate : 'Vivitur parvo bene, cui paternum Splendet in mensa tenui salinum; Nec leves somnos timor, aut cupidus Sordidus aufert.' (He lives well on little on whose frugal table the paternal salt-cellar shines, and whose soft slumbers are not disturbed by fear or the sordid passion for gain - Horace). This plate shows a scene with people playing a card game. Rare.
Condition: Good. General age-related toning. Small tear top margin just outside image. Narrow margins. Please study scan carefully.
