Paul Jones, Live on Air 1966 - 1968
When Paul Jones followed Mike Vickers’ path and left one of Britain’s leading R&B groups, Manfred Mann, his future looked bright. As his counterparts nervously sought success with Fontana as a pop vehicle with Klaus Voormann and Mike D’Abo, Jones could afford to rest on his laurels as the charismatic, good-looking frontman. But Jones wasn’t just a face, he had written a fair chunk of material with Mann and immediately hit a UK #4 with High Time while embarking on a film career with Privilege and The Committee, two films that today, enjoy cult status. A move to EMI saw his own songs taking a progressive turn, peaking with the 1969 explorative album Come Into My Music Box. Various radio sessions chart his journey from Portsmouth grammar boy to Paul Jones, pop star.
London Calling proudly presents Paul Jones, live at the BBC 1966-1968. Professionally re-mastered original broadcasts with background liners and timeline photographs.
