This is a charming and wonderfully expressive antique English School 19th Century portrait of a hunter. The horse is painted in every detail with the eye and horse shoes glinting just right, slight roaning to the coat, and a lovely shine of a horse owned with pride. The horse is placed in a landscape setting with a distant mountain and lake and old board fencing in her vast pasture. It is framed in a warm l curly maple veneer burlwood frame with gilded edge, It was acquired from a Washington DC estate and is so lovely but I must pay my vet bills on  my own horse. There are some antique papers affixed to the back perhaps giving the horses pedigree and original framer of the piece?
The piece has a slight cracquelare as shown from age, there is a slight darkening of the left lower corner, and the bottom left edge of the frame has an old split that has since been sealed with wax and will not be noticed when displayed.
