Covers standard sensitivities up to ISO 12800, and can be sensitized up to Hi3 (equivalent to ISO 102400)

The high sensitivity performance of up to ISO 6400, which was praised by professionals in all fields with the D3, has been extended to ISO 200 to 12800 by developing a new high-sensitivity, low-noise CMOS sensor. Even in low light conditions, the high shutter speed allows you to clearly capture the momentary movement of the subject. Sensitivity can be increased to Hi3 (equivalent to ISO 102400) and decreased to equivalent to ISO 100, enabling reliable capture of subjects even in low-light conditions where it is difficult for the human eye to distinguish situations. You can shoot indoors or outdoors (at night) at sports events, wild animals after sunset, or in situations where the amount of light is limited and where a speedlight cannot be used.

"D-movie" newly adopted in "D3S" saves one frame selected from a movie as a JPEG still image, and can extract still images that can be used for printing, web distribution, and e-mail attachments. It also has a video editing function that allows you to save only the necessary parts by setting the start and end points of the recorded video. Furthermore, if you select the "high-sensitivity movie shooting mode", high-sensitivity shooting equivalent to ISO 102400 is possible at the maximum, making it possible to reliably capture subjects even in situations that are difficult to see with the naked eye. In addition, HD quality (1280 x 720 pixels) 24 fps video has excellent data handling, and the file format is AVI and the compression method is Motion-JPEG, ensuring high versatility. Equipped with a "flicker reduction" function that reduces flickering under fluorescent lights. By combining a large Nikon FX-format image sensor with a wide variety of NIKKOR lenses, you can shoot video that is unique to a single-lens reflex camera, taking advantage of the characteristics and bokeh effects of each lens. It also supports an external stereo microphone for clear and realistic stereo recording.

*Level display

*Shooting information display

Shooting information such as shutter speed and aperture value is displayed on the LCD monitor. The D3S is equipped with a dedicated info button that allows direct access to the info screen that displays shooting information. *More convenient playback function

The 72-frame display, which allows you to view 72 thumbnails at once, is convenient for speedy image search and selection. Expanded histogram display expands only the area you want to check and displays the histogram of that area.

Function buttons that can be freely assigned to frequently used functions
