This Vietnam war in-country hand sewn patch measures approximately 3.4" tall by 2.5" wide.

During the Vietnam War, the United States Army established the United States Army Vietnam (USARV) as the primary command for all American military operations in Vietnam. Within USARV, the 36th Individual Training Battalion was responsible for training new soldiers before they were deployed to combat units in Vietnam.

The 36th Individual Training Battalion was based at Fort Polk, Louisiana and was responsible for training soldiers in a variety of skills necessary for combat in Vietnam. This included basic infantry skills, such as marksmanship, hand-to-hand combat, and small unit tactics, as well as specialized skills like demolitions, intelligence gathering, and language training.

Soldiers who completed their training with the 36th Individual Training Battalion were then sent to Vietnam, where they would be assigned to combat units throughout the country. The training provided by the battalion was essential to preparing soldiers for the unique challenges of fighting in the jungles and terrain of Vietnam.

The 36th Individual Training Battalion played an important role in preparing soldiers for combat in Vietnam and helped to ensure that American troops were as prepared as possible for the challenges they would face in the war. The battalion was disbanded after the end of the war, but its legacy lives on in the many soldiers who trained there and went on to serve in Vietnam.
