Korda Longchuck Main Line 1000m All Sizes Available New
Product Information

The new Long Chuck main line has been designed specifically for fishing at long range and will add extra yards to your cast compared to a standard mono. It is ultra-low stretch to enable quicker compression of the rod blank, and alongside the fact that it has very low water absorption, it also helps when trying to feel the lead down at range or in a cross wind.

That low water absorption also helps ensure that the line stays lightweight and stays in the air for longer, thus helping to lower the drag on the lead during flight, but the biggest factor in achieving that is the fact that the line is clear – adding a dye to a mono line increases the weight, as well as altering the molecular structure and creating more stretch, all of which means that coloured lines won’t cast as far.

Long Chuck also features a high breaking strain to diameter ratio, which significantly reduces both the drag and the weight of the line, compared to an equivalent breaking strain – 10lb is 0.27mm; 12lb is 0.30mm; 15lb is 0.33mm; and 20lb is 0.40mm. It is supplied on 1,000m spools.

Without doubt, this casts better than any other fluorocarbon main line that Ive used and this is the most noticeable difference over its competitors. It sinks well, as youd expect from a fluorocarbon, and its surprisingly supple too. I was a little sceptical as to whether it be as strong and abrasion resistant as I needed, given that its only available in 12lb. Happily, though, I can report that I no longer have any reservations, having used it to catch sizeable fish among heavy weed over the past year. I cant fault the performance, but a slight concern is the price. If you only need 200 metres then its more or less on a par with its competitors, but with a bulk spool not being available, there are cheaper options out there if you need lots of fluorocarbon.

After extensive field-testing the boys at Korda have finally released their own fluorocarbon main line, aptly named Kontour. Like all lines of this type, it is incredibly tough. Its fast sinking and hugs the lake bed, keeping it away from wary carp. It is also virtually invisible when submerged. Kontour is claimed to be a more manageable material and, as a result, casts much better than other fluoros. This is the one area that lets fluorocarbon main lines down, so Korda could be on to a winner here.
