August 1940 WW2 Original Photo Convoy with British Children to South Africa and Australia on HMT Batory.

The Stratheden carried the Commodore. In the distance can be seen another ship, probably the Express of Britain, which carried the Vice Commodore.

There were 51 ships that convoyed with the HMT Batory, formerly MS Batory, which carried 477 British and Welsh children as part of the Children's Overseas Reception Board, aka Sea Evacuees. The Batory left on August 5, 1940 and arrived in Sydney, Australia on October 16, 1940. Convoy WS2 Fast Section included Andes, Batory, Empress of Britain, Empress of Canada, Stratheden, Monarch of Bermuda, Strathaird. These were escorted by the cruiser Cumberland.
