ITEM DESCRIPTION

Today we are pleased to offer these nicely preserved volumes on John Adams Dix!

A great find from a local New England estate!

These scarce antique volumes are over 141 years old!

1st Edition.  Complete in 2 volumes.  Ex-library.

In great condition overall!  Original publisher cloth bindings show just light wear, including some rubbing and soiling to the boards and spines, general wear around the extremities including light bumping to the corners and spine extremes, and light rubbing and soiling to the page edges, including the gilt top edges.  Otherwise these are attractive, well-preserved antique volumes!  Tight and square!  Gilt title lettering on the spines displays nicely from the shelf.

Internally, these volume are in great shape as well.  The boards and all page groupings remain firmly attached to their respective bindings.  Note that these are ex-library volumes with bookplates and library markings visible to the front and rear endpapers and fly pages, as well as the tile page and copyright page.  Otherwise these volumes are clean and free from signatures and inscriptions.

The text block in each of these volumes is very clean overall.  Pages show typical age-related toning, and some light foxing and soiling scattered throughout, and some minor edge wear in spots, but otherwise these volumes are quite clean and free from rips, tears, writing and markings.  Perfectly readable throughout!  A very well preserved set!

Each volume is nicely illustrated.  Make sure to see the additional photos in the description below for a thorough look through these antique tomes.

Volume I is 388 pages; Volume II is 435 pages.

Both volumes measure approximately 9 1/4 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches wide by 1 3/4 inches thick, and both volumes will require approximately 3 3/4 inches of shelf space.

A perfect addition to any fine collection or a wonderful gift for someone special!
