Allison McKinley regularly reads books to children as an elementary school teacher. One day, she was inspired by her dog, Betty Jean, to create a book that showcases the importance of dog rescue and animal foster programs. Betty Jean Blue was the first foster dog Allison ever had, and since then, she and her husband have successfully rescued, fostered, and helped find homes for seven dogs.
