This is an extremely rare gas mask

This is not the common leather variety seen that is brown

No spare lenses in spare lens holder

Stamped AGD NO. 12 (or could be 72?”)

The simple cotton and elastic construction of the head straps, and the presence of unpainted steel parts of the mask indicate that this is an early example of the "Gummimaske", (also known as "Linienmaske") first issued to German troops in late 1915, and remaining in limited service until replaced in 1917 by more advanced models.

Canister has usual age bruises and bumps to the body.

The gas mask itself is as seen condition.

Has a very nice original carrying strap too

The mask has held up well over the years. Considering the composition of the cotton blend material.

It shows some wear.
