The piers of gratification

I imagine that, if you start reading this book, it is because you are among that minority that wants to develop, and surely you hope that it will offer you a guide to be able to put into practice what so many traditions and philosophies have advocated for centuries and now scientific studies corroborate: that the development of our mental abilities to expand our potential and our -apparently- severed existence IS possible. As journalist William Feather puts it: "Success seems to depend largely on sticking with something after others have stopped."
In recent years, thanks to advances in technology, it has been possible to observe the functioning of the brain with greater detail and precision. It seems that this has prompted scientists to increase their research, thanks to which discoveries have been made that were previously unimaginable. We are facing a work in the process of expansion, so surely the next few years will still bring us new revelations that nuance or modify the previous ones, as has always happened in the history of science.
