This ROM expander is a more hi-tech or geeky version of our classic 3x or 3-bank switcher (see separate auction for the 3x version). The 3x switcher uses 3 of the original size 40-pin DIP EPROMs. This 4x or 4-bank QuadROM switcher uses one larger 42-pin DIP EPROM. This kit is designed for people who want more banks of instrument sounds and/or are experienced with EPROM programming. Not all EPROM programmers will program the larger capacity EPROM chip used in this kit.
Set-by-step printed instructions with photos are included. Don't miss this chance to fit your R100 with all the sounds made for it. NOTE: The board uses non-destructive round machined pins. It does not use square pins that destroy the original sound ROM socket.
No soldering is required for the pushbutton function, but soldering one wire is required to utilize MIDI-IN.
You will need to drill a hole in the plastic case for the button.
The sound chip is socketed and can be replaced if you want to make your own sound chip(s).
