This stunning antique bowl was produced by the Jean Pouyat porcelain factory in Limoges, France between 1890 and 1932. The expertise of the unnamed artist is obvious in the ethereal delicacy of the hand painted raspberry fruit and plant against a soft pale lemon yellow background.

The embossed irregular scalloped rim and edges are encrusted in thick metallic gold and remarkably show very little wear. The glaze has a low sheen satin finish. There are six subtle embossed ribs on the interior side walls, and barely extended handles on two sides of the rim.

This small bowl of breathtaking beauty has a top diameter of nearly 5 ½” with 1 ¼” high sides.  The condition is very good and free of crazing, scratches, cracks, and chips.  Only a tiny dimple and small paint smudge on the outside, see last photo, disrupt its perfection.

The backstamp identifies the producing/decorating company and factory location: in green are the letter “J.P.” over a line with an “L.” below and the word “France” underneath.  With initials, the artist left their small mark on the topside at the edge of the artwork.
