Just finished helping to clear out a fine personal library (See my other few book listings tomorrow ...) only to find the most special pieces were not on the library shelves, but in the gentleman's office, tucked away in a box.  He came from two previous generations of printers, type setters and graphic artists, and small publishers; all affiliated with some private presses.   There were more than 60 small booklets, folders, gift, memorabilia.  Apparently, it was customary for fine presses to gift their printers and their best customers with notable little special printed items at the holidays. ...to thank them, to advertise their expertise & creativity, and to announce a new printing. Some are ink signed, or ink initialed, (particularly from H Deter V).  and with odd shapes, folds, sizes and with quips or unusual writings.  Only four show scuff, stain, or heavy toning.  Some limited to 100,150, 200 copies. Dates from 1930.s to 1980's. Many 1950's. Three soft catalogs of type styles or offerings.

Printers & Presses included are Berliner (many), Imprint Society, Southworth, Anthoensen, Baxter Society, Antheneum, Mosher, Trovillion, Underwhich, Peter Pauper, Paroquet (many), etc.   A few (like Freud, the miniature Cratchit's Christmas) are particularly special.  Definitely an unusual (unique?) collection. Just in time for the NY Book Fair.
