Vehicle Details

1973 Chevrolet C-10 Long Bed. OEM 350 minus the Turbo 350 XMSN. This 350 was a crate engine being built by a kid in the late 1990s. He claimed it was a stroker 383, which is why I wanted it; it turned out to be all hat & no cattle: punched out .040” over for no apparent reason, with stock-sized crank & rods, an RV cam & a heinous-looking Holley double pumper on top. A third of the rocker arms were tightened down instead of set for proper lifter preload. I had a local shop owner friend diagnose what all was wrong about the build & advise me on how to put it back as close to stock as I could to make it a daily driver: new lifters, pushrods, stock—sized camshaft & OEM HEI Ignition. The currently-installed Quadra Jet had been bought new for another Heavy Half in aprox 1998 & was run less than 10k miles. This truck was parked before being fully broken in.

Previous seller also tried to teach himself how to build an auto transmission. Bed has Folding Ball Hitch for gooseneck trailer, which seller will keep, & this will leave a rectangular hole in the bed over the axle.

Overall, vehicle has moderate rust, with some spots rusted thru. Front floorboards are rusted but not rusted thru. Seat pans still have original paint. Inner fender seams have pinholes rusted thru. Cloth seat is from a 1990s Chev p/u. Doesn’t appear to have been wrecked, to seller’s untrained eye. Roof has a dent. A/C plumbing is intact but compressor & brackets were left off. I was making it my daily driver in 2004 & it quit on me. I had to go back out on the road to work. Several years later I found a ridiculously small problem with the coil wire, but had too many other projects & was traveling for work. It probably needs new fuel pump & hoses, fuel tank washed out, & timing reset to run.
