MARKINGS INCLUDED FOR 2 AIRCRAFT:
B-17G-25-BO (42-31678), “Little Patches”, 401st BS/91st BG, Bassingbourne, England, 1943
"Little Patches" got her name because of a flak hole, and when repaired, "Little Patches" was painted sitting on the "Repair Patch.” She went on to survive the war, returned to the USA on November 6, 1945 and sold for scrap metal.
B-17G-40-BO (42-97165), “Sleepy-Time Gal”, 353rd BS/301st BG, Lucera, Italy, 1945
“Sleepy-Time Gal” was lost due to mechanical fault and crashed near Lesach, Germany while on a mission to Munich, July 19, 1944. The Pilot: John McGill, Co-pilot: Fagan, Navigator: Morrell, Bombardier: Gernert, Flight engineer/top turret gunner: Thomas, Radio Operator: Behrens, Ball turret gunner: Crickmer, Waist gunner: Kelly, Waist gunner: Cowen and Tail gunner: Gitchell were all taken prisoner.
As with all older decal sets, precaution should be taken. It is recommended to use a decal coating product such as MicroScale Liquid Decal Film or a similar product.
