Antique Pyramidal Cutting Trocar

A variation of this type of instrument is used daily to access and drain collections of fluid or gas in medical, veterinary, or embalming procedures by using the pointed end to push the instrument into the abdominal cavity, retract the point to the rear of the instrument and allow the fluid/gas to drain or be suctioned out of the bulbous side-tube.
