Very rare vintage smith corona SCM GHIA manual typewriter, in Turquoise retro colour

From the 70s, designed as a side project by Tom Tjaarda and Alejandro de Tomaso

Detroit-born Tom Tjaarda is arguably the world’s greatest living car designer. Argentinian-born Alejandro de Tomaso was one of the world’s major independent car makers.

in 1970 Tjaarda and de Tomaso designed a highly distinctive portable typewriter with its equally distinctive case.

The cover of the machine has a GHIA badge and a sports car style stripe and instead of rubber feet the typewriter has a black band resembling tyres

The carry handle pulls out from a moulding, reminiscent of an Olivetti Valentine in a functional portable way.

The typewriter is in very good condition with some age related marks PLEASE SEE PHOTOS, however still stays perfectly shut.

The typewriter is functioning but would probably need a new ribbon.
