Up for auction is a Smiths Astral Ships Red Segmented Radio Room Clock, dating from 16 June 1965.

Signed original red segmented dial and Astral eight-day movement in a brass bulkhead case with a flat front glass.  Brass case requires polishing.

The clock is in full working order and keeping accurate time.  I have had the clock running continuously for several months after having it serviced by a clock maker.  Not sure if hands are all original.

It also has an ID No. Q12 3199 printed on the back, most likely from its time in service.

Weight before packing is 1.75 kgs.

The red segments were marked onto marine clock dials to introduce a quiet period into maritime communications for the times indicated on the dial, to allow ships in distress a better chance of having their radio broadcasts heard.
