Eliza Barchus(1857-1959) oil on canvas mt Rainer? Seattle landscape *manner of*.

Unsigned. There is a chance the signature has Been rubbed off over 140 years? Seattle frame shop sticker on back of period frame. Some places where paint is missing. No repairs that we can see. Gold Paint mostly worn off carved wood period frame.

In the 1880s, Eliza hosted painting classes in both Wa and OR. If this is not hers; it is most certainly done by a student of hers most likely in one of those classes. Actually; this looks better than many of the her paintings I can see. Just my opinion. Contacted 2 western Art appraisers about this piece; whom said it was most likely her students piece

Either way; fantastic piece of history and art of the PNW. Excellent addition to any collection or museum

To make this piece even cooler; it has a golden rule bazaar seattle sticker on the frame. Looks like it opened in 1885. Then burned in the great Seattle fire of 1889. So a oil painting sold at the golden rule bazaar in Seattle. Really cool
