Circa 1915 combination belt with chatelain velvet purse.

The belt is formed by 4 separate chains, connected with wirework belt buckle.  A chatelaine purse hangs from the belt by a separate 4-chain extension. The purse is hand-made from burgundy velvet and sheer silk.  Top of the purse's drawstring has a decorative medallion with two dangle drops, inlaid with rhinestones. This example is probably made from nickel or another of the faux silver blends, such as alpacca or German Silver.

I have never seen anything quite like this. I just could not find anything like this in cyber-land -- although I know other examples must exist. But they're rare, that's for sure!

Condition: Metal is in Very Good condition; fabric purse has holes in the sheer section -- buyer will probably want to replace bag portion. On belt & chatelain, only reportable issue is missing drop from the decorative medallion at the top drawstring of the bag (see photo #5). No corrosion. No missing rhinestones. No broken chains or links.

Dimensions: Belt chains 32” long. Belt buckle made from 2 wirework medallions is 2.5” wide x 1.5” long. Chain connecting belt buckle to purse is 6.5" long.  When laying flat, purse is 8" long x 5.5".

Unpacked weight: 5 oz.

Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials.

Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles.  On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views.

I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description.  The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase.

Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt
