Fine Antique American Pewter Deep Dish Charger, Joseph Danforth, Middletown, CT​, c. 1780 to 1788. This large deep dish charger is an early example manufactured by one of the finest American pewter families. This charger has a single reeded rim with a deep dish. There are two worn impressed maker's marks on the back of the plate with a rampant lion in gateway. The marks are worn so you can't read the full, "JOSEPH" above. Below the lion rampant reads, the last name "DANFORTH"is almost completely worn. This is the mark of Joseph Danforth, who worked out of Middletown, Connecticut from 1780 to 1788. I offer this early Antique American pewter deep dish charger with no reserve and a "Buy It Now". DIMENSIONS: The charger is 1 5/16" H. x 13 3/8" Dia. CONDITION: The condition is As Found with an old repair to a two inch section on the rim. There is also an old repair to a pinhole on the bowl and some minor wear and denting to the surface.
