Neoclassical-Style, Netherlands Silver (.833), Paw-footed Chocolate Pot c.1927 Excellent Condition

 

Today for your consideration is this lovely Neoclassical-Style, Continental Silver (.833), paw-footed chocolate pot with wood handle and a hinged lid. This highly ornate Dutch piece was possibly made by E. Groningen. Groningen’s markers mark was closed in 1927, which means that this chocolate pot was made no later than this date.

 

The chocolate pot features beautiful, detailed repousse design which includes the face of a horned Zeus as part of the spout.

 

Design on body: 2 people a 1 cow. The people are drawing water from a well.

Design on other side of body: 1 person and 2 cow. Person is drawing water from a well.

 

Height:16.5 cm

Pot Belly Width:10 cm.

Silver Weight (without handle): 236 grams.

Dutch hallmarks include a rampant lion with a number 2 below. This mark indicates that the item was made between 1906 -1953


The chocolate pot is in excellent sterling antique condition.
