RARE FRAMED 1950s JAPANESE LADY PRINT CC Beall 77x63cm
Rare, large framed print, purchased late 1950s (around 65 years old). Measures 77cm long x 63cm wide x 2.5cm deep. Item is part of an estate and has been in dry storage for some time.
..."Artist CC Beall (Cecil Calvert Beall 1892-1970) worked for many of the leading periodicals of the twentieth century and produced paintings and colored drawings for Collier's, Vanity Fair, Cosmopolitan, Woman's Home Companion, Saturday Evening Post, American Family Circle, and This Week and also painted covers for Elks Magazine and Reader's Digest books. His works also included several Japanese ladies and children, this particular one of a blue Japanese lady holding a fan.
Beall's 1936 painting of President Roosevelt for Collier's cover page led to the position as art director for the Democratic National Committee. Beall was temporarily an employee of the U. S. War Department. At the same time, he was also a correspondent-artist for several magazines, including Collier's, and painted portraits of decorated war heroes. Beall was an eyewitness to the 1945 official Japanese surrender on the USS Missouri. He painted General MacArthur at the event; his work later became the official portrait..".

Condition (please read before purchase): Good, used condition for its age, with wear on the frame and back masonite board. Some wear visible where the print meets the frame, and a few minor marks on the print, otherwise good. Colour of actual item may appear slightly different to photographs due to camera flash/exposure.
