Description: A copper-engraved, original antique strip road map from the mid 18th century. The sheet is printed on both sides and includes significant detail of place names and topographical features, with the route passing through numerous settlements including:

Plate 70: Chester, Newtown

Plate 71: Brecon, Cardiff

Cartographer / Engraver: John Senex (based on earlier road maps by John Ogilby)

Provenance: 'The Roads through England delineated, or Ogilby's Survey, Revised, Improved and Reduced to a Size portable for the Pocket by John Senex F,R,S. Being an Actual Survey of all the Principal Roads of England and Wales ...', published by John Bowles, London, 1762

Condition: Very good overall condition. Light age toning. Repaired closed tear at the base of the sheet, not affecting the printed area (see close-up photograph). Very mild fold crease to the centre of the sheet where the source publication was originally folded, probably in a soft leather binding/wallet. Please study all the photographs carefully to fully appreciate the condition.
