Antique 19th C. Pair of Japanese Porcelain Soba Choko Cups, Blue & White


  • For your consideration is a captivating pair of Japanese porcelain cups
  • Exquisite hand painted in Cobalt Blue detail all over around
  • Traditional Japanese motif in the interior Sho Chiku Bai, meaning " The Three Friends of Winter" - bamboo, pine and plum
  • These soba choko cups were used to hold sauce for dipping noodles
  • Each is marked with four underglaze blue characters on the underside
  • Circa second half of the 19th century, late Edo early Meiji Japan

  • Measurements: Approximately each one is 2.5" tall x 3" diameter (across)
  • The pair weighs around 7 ozs.

  • Condition: Good/Very Good overall. Please see photos. One cup has an unobtrusive sturdy hairline, as pictured. The other has no issues at all. All original
