Antique 19th C. Pair of Japanese Porcelain Soba Choko Cups, Blue & White
- For your consideration is a captivating pair of Japanese porcelain cups
- Exquisite hand painted in Cobalt Blue detail all over around
- Traditional Japanese motif in the interior Sho Chiku Bai, meaning " The Three Friends of Winter" - bamboo, pine and plum
- These soba choko cups were used to hold sauce for dipping noodles
- Each is marked with four underglaze blue characters on the underside
- Circa second half of the 19th century, late Edo early Meiji Japan
- Measurements: Approximately each one is 2.5" tall x 3" diameter (across)
- The pair weighs around 7 ozs.
