  • It portrays and commemorates Erasmus of Rotterdam (1466-1536)
  • Presented here while writing, the Dutch Christian humanist, theologian, educationalist, satirist and philosopher, was one of the most influential thinkers of the Northern Renaissance and one of the major figures of the Western culture
  • Art Nouveaux image, masterly rendered with smooth lines and great detail
  • It bears the name ERASMUS
  • The plaque is stamped by the artist 
  • HANS FREI ( 1868-1947) was a renown Swiss sculptor, medalist and goldsmith. His work was part of the sculpture event in the art competition at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris.

  • Provenance: The artist's granddaughter who resides in Houston, TX
