Pair of ea. 20th c. Original Watercolors, Exotic Landscapes, Black Swans, Palms, Elephants

  • For your consideration is an interesting pair of watercolor landscapes
  • Both depict beautiful places with exotic flora and fauna
  • One features black swans swimming freely in a body of clear water. We would assume this to be the Swans Bay in Australia, where these magnificent birds live in the wild.
  • If we'd judge by the fact that both paintings came to us together and are obviously sketched by the same hand, and if we look at the undoubtedly Indian elephants featured at the other image, depicting a South Asian or Indian Jungle, we would assume that the artist is possibly European (most likely English) who has traveled extensively the British Commonwealth at the turn of the 20th century
  • The watercolors are masterly rendered using a natural, fresh colored palette with great attention to the detail
  • Circa early 20th century, unsigned
  • Well presented in newer gilt frames, good quality matting, under glass, professionally mounted in New York (the framing atelier label remains)
  • All original

  • Measurements: Approx. 13" x 9.5" framed; 10" x 7" each scene
  • Weighs about 1 lb. 8 oz.

  • Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Strong original colors. Ready for display, the backing paper might needs replacement eventually, but not essential. All original.
