You can't beat the early Crown transistor radios for design aesthetics ~ especially when it came to the company's use of reverse painted plastic. So, here is a prime example of Crown styling, the TR-670, manufactured by the Ashai Radio Manufacturing Co., Ltd., in 1959. It is a stunner, with the gold reverse painted V framing the red tuning dial, and topped off with the Crown logo in gold. (Check out Robert Davidson's description of this radio on "abetterpage".)

This example is in excellent cosmetic condition, and would be near mint except for a deep scratch near the earphone jack nut. (It might be the start of a crack, but the plastic doesn't flex, so I don't know.) The set comes in the original box in excellent shape, along with the leather case, which shows typical wear. The radio works well, receiving several stations with good volume.

I have been collecting transistor radios and TVs for more than 25 years, and am now "thinning" my collection. Most are like new in the box, so keep an eye on my auctions!
