Short description = Hechtia glomerata Guapilla Bromeliad is easy to cultivate and survives both drought and heat; Once established in its location, it can even tolerate light frost. A wonderful species for dry locations that is particularly decorative when its leaves turn reddish in the sun. A pretty, smaller, terrestrial bromeliad widely distributed from the southern United States through Mexico to Guatemala, where it grows in valleys, canyons and on steep, rocky slopes. It forms flat, wide rosettes of curved leaves up to 40 cm long, which are armed with hook-shaped spines at the edges, and inflorescences with white flowers.
