Statue made of finely carved and painted wood with natural pigments (black, red and white) depicting a man of the people of Iatmul - ethnic group of New Guinea.

The Iatmul they live along the middle stretch of the Sepik River.

They practice horticulture, fishing and hunting.

The first contacts with Europeans date back to thirties, when the missionaries arrived on site.
