This is for a beautiful and really well preserved sterling silver inkwell from 1901.The inkwell is fashioned in the style of earlier similarly styled pewter inkwells. Its a really well made heavy gauge piece, the silver is nicely detailed with ribbing around the middle and a flared base which is weighted. It has five holes to hold pens on the top and a hinged lid with a tall finial in the centre. The silver carries a full set of London hallmarks in two places and dating to 1901 along with the initials AJH for Alfred James How. It has the original clear glass liner and it is in absolute excellent condition with no damage anywhere, there are no dings or dents, the hallmarks are crisp and clear and as you can see it displays beautifully. It stands 50mm (2") tall by 65mm (2.5") in diameter at the base.
