The San Juan was the last daily luxury narrow gauge passenger train operating in the United States. It traveled between Alamosa and Durango, Colorado in the 1940's until early 1951. 

This is Bob Griswold's account of riding on the historic train. It includes photos as illustration. There is also an account of his travels on The Galloping Goose.
