WALKER & HALL

SHEFFIELD SILVER PLATED

4PART

TEA SET

Estimated to have been made during the early years of the last century this splendid four piece teaset was made by Walker and Hall of Sheffield (date letter w). It sports two main pots, one tea pot and one large water jug the like of which is often used alternatively as a coffee pot. The matching creamer and sugar echo the form and finish of the main pots as shown in the images.

In good gleaming condition in the main but the hot water jug has a few issues in the form of some rubbing to some edges and an obvious dint to the body with a very unobtrusive push below which was felt, rather than noticed, whilst polishing the piece. There is a small amount of damage to the knop edges. The inners of the creamer and sugar are very good for their age and purpose (images supplied) and the main pots have but light internal signs of use and flat tannin commensurate with the age of the set.

Displays extremely well, quality maker produces a top drawer item.

Maker’s marks: to the upper body of all four pieces and with a more detailed inscription to the underside. The marks prove that this has always been a set with no cuckoos.
